Following forensic analysis conducted by personnel from the General Coordination of Forensic Services, the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the human remains found on Friday in the area of a migrant camp on Avenida 100 Metros, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough, belonged to two men.

One of them matches the physical characteristics of a Colombian citizen reported missing on February 25.

The discovery occurred after, during the search, evidence was obtained suggesting the man could be found there.

The remains were buried in the median strip of Avenida 100 Metros, where authorities conducted a coordinated inspection with the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Commission for the Search for Persons.

The body will be returned to relatives.

“The information obtained from interviews with people close to the missing person allowed us to determine his possible fate and location,” the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) stated in a statement.

The case remains under investigation, while the Institute of Forensic Sciences (INCIFO) is conducting studies to determine the cause of death and proceed with the return of the body to the next of kin, in accordance with established protocols.

Second fatality

Meanwhile, the Federal Police of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) stated that the investigation remains open to determine the identity of the second victim and clarify the circumstances surrounding the double discovery.

So far, it has not been confirmed whether there was a relationship between the two individuals or whether the site was used for criminal purposes after the dismantling of the migrant camp on March 11.

The shelter was set up for two years in Mexico City. During that time, another body was burned, and it was discovered that the migrants were being extorted.
