The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) incinerated nearly two tons of narcotics in the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes. The operation was organized by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in the state, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena).
The operation was carried out at the facilities of the Eighth Military Zone, in compliance with the Narcotics Destruction Program and the provisions of the National Code of Criminal Procedure, which requires the disposal of seized substances and objects linked to criminal acts.
Marijuana and Methamphetamine, the Most Incinerated
During the event, 881 kilos 714 grams 100 milligrams of marijuana and 949 kilos 520 grams 400 milligrams of methamphetamine were destroyed, as well as smaller quantities of other substances: one gram 100 milligrams of cocaine and five grams 700 milligrams of opium gum.
These drugs were linked to preliminary investigations and ongoing investigation files, and their disposal seeks to prevent the risk of their return to the illegal market.
Supervision and Legality of the Process
The event was coordinated by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), which led the identification, counting, weighing, and destruction of the narcotics. Military authorities, official experts, and personnel from the FGR’s Internal Control Body also participated, certifying that the incineration was carried out in accordance with established protocols.
These types of actions reflect the joint efforts of federal agencies to ensure compliance with the law and combat drug trafficking, one of the crimes that most affects public health and safety in the country.
