The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, reported that nearly one million people, both local and foreign, have enjoyed beaches, rivers, resorts, Magical Towns, iconic sites, recreational centers, nature, and its typical cuisine during the Easter holidays.

This was announced during his visit to Las Glorias beach in the municipality of Guasave to witness a beach volleyball tournament. He highlighted the importance of tourism as an economic driver. “Tourists come and leave a legacy (…) they go and eat and buy a few things, souvenirs,” he explained.

Likewise, he revealed that a cruise ship carrying 4,000 tourists arrived in Mazatlán, 70% of whom disembarked and proceeded to visit the city, generating significant economic benefits through consumption in restaurants and other local services.

A few days ago, the launch of the “Fall in Love with Sinaloa” program was also announced, a low-cost project designed to position all communities with a tourism vocation.

State Growth

Likewise, the head of the local executive branch reported that a robust operation with approximately 15,000 personnel is maintained in the state he governs. “It is duly reinforced, more specialized for tourist areas (…) the security issue is being addressed throughout the state,” he stated.

In addition to tourism, Rocha Moya has also overseen road projects that will connect towns and regions, such as the road from Ciénega de Casal to Mazate de los López, in the municipality of Mocorito. This connection will improve communication with the municipal capital and with Guamúchil, La Higuerita, and Salvador Alvarado. These projects not only contribute to tourism but also to the well-being of local families.

It should be noted that the installation of 1,000 new surveillance cameras was announced months earlier to strengthen monitoring and incident response efforts, providing a technological tool in the fight against insecurity, as well as preventive and reactive deployments carried out in coordination with authorities from all three levels of government (municipal, state, and federal) for the care of the people of Sinaloa.

Thus, the high mobility of tourists and the programming of recreational, cultural, and artistic activities contribute to the regional economic dynamism, consolidating Sinaloa as one of the most popular destinations in northwestern Mexico.
