The operation includes the installation of roadblocks and patrols on rural roads and highways, especially in hard-to-reach areas, reported the agency’s Social Communications Department. More than 10,000 officers from state, federal, and municipal agencies are participating, working under three main axes: security, information, and assistance.
The source indicated that in Saltillo, 1,200 officers from the Preventive Police, Traffic Police, and the Southeast Reaction Group, among other specialized groups, were deployed. In addition, there are 215 patrol cars, 30 motorcycles, 20 canine units, 10 equestrian units, and a mobile C2 unit equipped with aerial surveillance technology using drones.
The Commissioner of Security and Citizen Protection, Miguel Ángel Garza Félix, highlighted the coordination between the different agencies, which has been essential for Saltillo to remain the safest capital in the country.
State Public Security Secretary Hugo Gutiérrez affirmed that security during the holiday season is a priority for the Coahuila government. The special operation deployed throughout the state responds to a direct instruction from Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas.
The operation also includes the installation of more than 40 checkpoints and roadblocks, including permanent security in border areas with other states and reinforcements on rural or difficult-to-access roads. Sections of Highway 57 and other federal highways are being monitored jointly by the National Guard and state and municipal police.
The SSP urges citizens to follow the instructions of authorities and to report any suspicious situation to the emergency number 911. With these actions, the Coahuila government reaffirms its commitment to the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors during the holiday season.
