The Oaxaca Metropolitan Area’s Mega Patching and Resurfacing Plan has completed the repair of dozens of streets and avenues in the municipalities of Oaxaca de Juárez, Santa Lucía del Camino, and Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán. Work continues to transform roads neglected by other administrations into efficient and safe routes for residents, said Carlos Vichido Hernández, head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Communications (SIC).
The official indicated that main and feeder roads have also been rehabilitated, such as Highway 190 from the entrance to Viguera to the entrance to the state capital and its continuation to Cerro del Fortín, as well as the road to Arrazola in Xoxocotlán.
He added that the rehabilitation and installation of more than 2,000 streetlights continues to provide greater safety for the population traveling on these main routes, which carry heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Vichido Hernández stated that, through actions, the Oaxacan Spring is transforming the metropolitan area and responding to long-standing citizen demands, as urban infrastructure is being improved like never before, directly benefiting more than 400,000 residents.
He emphasized that in the Historic Center alone, more than 20 streets and avenues have been renovated. Similarly, work has been carried out in the La Noria neighborhood, near the Mercado de Abasto and the Bus Station, in the northern area of Infonavit and on Avenida México 68, as well as at the entrances to the state capital.
Finally, the official emphasized that the work is being carried out at night to minimize traffic disruptions and ensure steady progress.
