Easter Sunday has arrived, marking the end of Holy Week, so many vacationers are returning to Mexico City, clogging highways and roads, such as the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway.

Vacationers clog the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway
This morning, the Federal Roads and Bridges of Income and Related Services (Capufe) reported heavy traffic on the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway as part of the holiday season.

This situation extends from the Cuernavaca-Acapulco highway, and they have urged the public to drive with caution. It should be noted that local media have highlighted an accident on the Paso Exprés section, involving a passenger truck and a compact car.

The Mexico-Querétaro highway also has vehicle capacity.

As has also been the case since Thursday, April 17, the Mexico-Querétaro highway has vehicle capacity at the Tepotzotlán toll booth.

When do the 2025 Easter holidays end?

Although many vacationers are already returning to the capital to resume activities this Monday, April 21, many students will return to classes later, as the vacation period still extends for another week.

The official SEP calendar for the 2024-2025 school year states that Easter holidays are from Monday, April 14 to Friday, April 25. During this period, school activities are suspended nationwide for preschool, elementary, and secondary school students.
