Residents of the Zapien neighborhood in Uruapan, Michoacán, reported an alleged unusual phenomenon in the western part of the city, where, according to local reports, the ground is burning in an area approximately 10 meters in diameter.

Videos of smoke rising from the ground near the ravine and the old road to Cheranguera were circulated on social media on Monday.

“Boiling water is coming out of the ground at over 90 degrees Celsius,” they stated on social media. However, the exact location of the incident and its origin have not yet been confirmed.

Some residents report the presence of personnel apparently associated with emergency services, although it is unknown which agency they belong to or whether they are officially responding to the case.

The phenomenon remains a mystery. Among the circulating versions, there is speculation that it could be due to volcanic activity, an underground reaction, or a gas leak, although no authority has released information confirming this.

It has also been mentioned that attempts have been made to extinguish the smoke by pouring water on the area, but this has not yielded any visible results.
