The United States, Germany, and Canada are among the main investors in Querétaro.

The United States remains the main source of foreign direct investment (FDI) received by the state in 2024; European and Asian countries also represent significant participation.

The state closed that year with $457.8 million in FDI from the United States, representing 43.4% of the total received by Querétaro, which amounted to $1,055.1 million, according to the Ministry of Economy (SE).

US investment registered a significant increase last year, rising from $50.1 million in 2023 to $457.8 million in 2024.

With this amount, it was the seventh Mexican destination with the most FDI from the United States in 2024. The top six were Mexico City, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nuevo León, Chihuahua, and the State of Mexico.

The recently concluded year recorded the highest amount of U.S. investment the state has attracted in the last nine years, surpassing 2015, when it totaled $869.9 million.

Thus, in 2024, the second largest FDI investor in Querétaro was Germany, with $276 million, representing 26.2% of the total investment for that year.

Canada came in third, with $195.3 million, or 18.5%.

Japan was the fourth largest investor in Querétaro, adding $75.1 million in 2024, contributing 7.1% of the total.

And in fifth place was the Netherlands, with $34.2 million in foreign direct investment, representing a contribution of 3.2%.

The list of the top 10 investors continues with Spain, which in sixth place contributed 2.9% of the investment; in seventh, Korea (2.5%); in eighth, Brazil (2.4%); in ninth, Denmark (1.5%); and in tenth, Austria (0.9%), according to data from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

US Investment Maintains Leadership

In total, Querétaro has attracted $18,360.4 million in foreign direct investment between 2006 and 2024; of that amount, the United States contributed 26.4%, or $2,947.6 million, remaining the main source of FDI.

With the cumulative figure between those years, Canada occupies second place, contributing 16.1% ($2,947.6 million); Spain follows with 13.6% ($2,492.4 million); Germany accounts for 8.9% (1,629.2 million dollars) and Brazil for 5.4% (984.5 million dollars).
