Zacatecas, part of The Great Escape

The National Chamber of Commerce of Zacatecas (Canacozac) will launch the Great Escape, the Good End of Tourism program during this holiday season and through May 31st. The goal is to promote the attractions of the state’s 58 municipalities in order to increase visitor numbers.

Therefore, participating tourism entrepreneurs and service providers will offer promotions and tours of extreme, cultural, or religious tourism, explained Jesús Gabriel López del Bosque, president of Canacozac.

He added that the initiative seeks to decentralize the sector by creating additional attractions in the seven Magical Towns to provide more options for visitors.

“So we can do better during these holidays and long weekends, so that more and more tourists can come and improve the economy,” he stated.

He commented that this project promotes the capital with the Zacatecas Cultural Festival (FCZ); the Magical Towns, such as Jerez de García Salinas and its fair; as well as Ojocaliente, Luis Moya, and Trancoso with the wine route, among other attractions.

IT IS NECESSARY TO SUPPORT BUSINESSES

Recognizing a slowdown in tourist arrivals, López del Bosque explained that it is necessary to strengthen these types of programs, because while the state does not entirely depend on tourism, it is an income that benefits merchants by recovering the profits affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finally, he emphasized that the project is being carried out in conjunction with the Tourism Secretariats of other states and the Mexican government, as well as the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco) and 257 other local chambers.
