The city of Campeche has taken a significant step toward the realization of its Light Rail project, as rolling tests commenced this Tuesday on one of the four-car units. The tests, conducted at low speed, covered various parts of the city, including the iconic Campeche boardwalk.
While the tests marked progress for the ambitious project, they also caused disruptions. Traffic slowed on roads frequented by residents, and in the La Ermita neighborhood, the mobile unit encountered a height issue that resulted in the rupture of internet cables. This incident prompted complaints from residents regarding the damages caused.
The Light Rail project, a key initiative of the state government, aims to enhance urban mobility and connectivity in Campeche. Authorities are expected to address the infrastructure challenges highlighted during the tests to ensure the project’s smooth implementation.
