Crime rates in Querétaro fell by 11% in two years.

Querétaro has managed to reduce its crime rate by 11.2% over the last two years, according to the most recent data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).

In the first quarter of 2023, the state reported a total of 16,191 alleged crimes. For the same period in 2025, the figure was 14,385, representing a reduction of 1,806 cases over a two-year period.

Compared to the same quarter in 2024, when 14,700 alleged crimes were recorded, the 2025 data show a decrease of 315 cases.

The change represents a 2.14% decrease in the number of crimes reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office during the January-March period.

Comparing data from the first quarter of 2025 with the last quarter of 2024, the previous quarter, which ended with a total of 14,262 crimes, saw an increase of 123 cases. This difference represents a 0.86% increase between the two periods.

With a total of 14,385 alleged crimes from January to March 2025, Querétaro represents 2.88% of the total national crime rate.

This percentage places the state in 12th place in the country among states with the highest number of alleged crimes reported during the period, according to figures published by the SESNSP (National Commission for the Prevention of Crimes against Persons with Disabilities).

The lowest incidence was detected mid-year, while the highest peak was recorded in October and November.
The classification of crimes in Querétaro includes crimes against life and bodily integrity, with a total of 1,918 reported in the first quarter of 2025. The crime with the highest number of records within this category was bodily injury, with 1,547 open investigation files.

Regarding crimes against personal liberty, 54 cases were recorded during the first three months of the year. All of the records correspond to crimes classified as “other crimes that violate personal liberty.”

Regarding crimes against sexual liberty and security, the state reported a total of 577 cases. Within this category, the crime with the highest number of reports was sexual harassment, with 212 complaints.

Crimes against property totaled 7,000 cases in Querétaro. Theft was the most frequent crime within this category, with a total of 4,958 reported cases.

1,747 investigation files were reported for crimes against the family. Domestic violence was the most frequently reported crime, with 1,194 cases in the state. In the category of crimes against society, 129 cases were reported, all classified as “other crimes against society.”

Finally, crimes classified as “against other affected legal assets” recorded a total of 2,960 cases. Within this category, threats were the most common crime, with 1,061 reported in the first quarter of the year.

Despite the overall reduction in crime rates in Querétaro over the past two years, data from the first quarter of 2025 reflect the persistence of certain high-incidence crimes in the state.

Robbery, with 4,958 reported cases, remains the most common crime, followed by domestic violence and bodily harm.
