The community of San Francisco, in the Bahía de Banderas municipality of Nayarit, has been trending in recent days due to a viral video showing a foreign woman chasing away beachgoers, mentioning that she had paid for the concession and that once the construction work on her house was completed, she would block access.

The project is currently closed. After the video went viral, municipal authorities went to the area and found workers continuing their construction work. Initially, they were arrested for this administrative violation, said Juan Edel Castro, the municipality’s Director of Urban Development.

“The seals should not have been violated, nor should anyone be working or making any kind of movement. Action was taken, as this is a recurring offense. The seals were violated. Public security had to be called for assistance, and the people inside were taken away. If she had been there, they would have been arrested as well. It is an administrative violation,” stated Edel Castro.

The appropriation of the beaches of Bahía de Banderas will not be allowed

On repeated occasions, the mayor of Bahía de Banderas, Héctor Santana, has shown a firm intention to eradicate the belief that beaches have owners and to prohibit access to Mexicans.

The official declared himself a champion of causes that favor respect for public spaces and said he will continue with that trend. “The beaches and their access belong to everyone,” he stated.

The company responsible paid the employees’ purposes.

The construction company paid each of the workers’ administrative purposes, which amounted to 2,500 pesos each. In total, seven bricklayers were arrested. Afterward, for repeated offenses, the fine would range up to 150,000 pesos.

“This will help them supplement the complaint, and it will be filed against the owner. The fine will even be a repeat offense for this owner and the property,” the municipal official insisted.

In the coming days, an update is expected to detail what happened with this incident, as well as the consequences the woman could face if she blocks people from entering again.
