Governors of Nayarit and Jalisco reactivate the Vallarta-Bahia unified transportation plan

This Thursday, April 24, authorities from the states of Nayarit and Jalisco are working on a metropolitan agenda focused on mobility, especially public transportation between Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas. A key issue is the trunk corridor over Highway 200.

It has been reported that both governors will attend: Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero for Nayarit and Pablo Lemus Navarro for Jalisco, as well as the Secretaries of Mobility: Sistiel Buahaya Lora (Nayarit) and Diego Monraz Villaseñor (Jalisco). The meeting will be held in Bahía de Banderas.

A delegate from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) will also be present, with the aim of complementing the work at the federal level.

On behalf of Nayarit, the study conducted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) during the first half of 2024 will be presented, which includes research and analysis on mobility in Bahía de Banderas. This study seeks to improve the coverage, infrastructure, and quality of public transportation, and has already yielded concrete results.

Both public transportation services and individual and collective taxi services were evaluated, as well as operational control mechanisms, with the goal of ensuring greater efficiency and preventing traffic accidents.

On the Jalisco side, these projects are being aligned with the modernization of the Medina Ascencio axis and the creation of a new highway interchange.

After more than two years, the working groups between both states are being reactivated to advance the construction of a unified public transportation system between Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas, from which concrete conclusions are expected.
