Governor Mauricio Kuri González rejected the possibility of installing the Mexico City–Querétaro train station in the city center, specifically in the area where the old train station is located. In his opinion, such an option would create serious mobility problems for the capital of Querétaro.
The governor noted that his administration has already proposed an alternative location, near the Military Camp near Tlacote Avenue, in a more strategic location to avoid negative impacts on urban mobility.
“We believe it is the best location, because placing it in the city center, where the current station is, would create many mobility problems,” he stated.
Kuri explained that the Federal Government has not yet finalized the location of the station in Querétaro, although the locations for San Juan del Río and the Querétaro International Airport (AIQ) have already been confirmed.
“Querétaro’s is the only one pending. There are technical issues being considered by the municipality, the state, the National Mobility Agency… and the agency that will be responsible for it, which is the National Defense Agency,” he stated.
The governor emphasized that his administration is actively participating in the technical analysis of possible locations and reiterated that his priority is to avoid increased traffic congestion in the consolidated urban area.
