For Tania Castillo, Director of Economic Development and Tourism for San Miguel de Allende, demonstrating that the town “always has new experiences to offer, whether it’s your first or tenth visit, is the core objective” of her work.
She highlighted that this month, on Thursday the 22nd, the Anne Frank, Notes of Hope exhibition will open, and that same day, the 4th edition of the Millesime GNP Weekend begins.
“San Miguel de Allende is much more than its original image because it’s a town that offers adventure. We have countless activities such as horseback riding, hot air ballooning, and extreme experiences; but we also have cultural activities, such as a vineyard, where you can learn about the entire winemaking process; galleries, and museums.
“We’re even about to open the Anne Frank exhibition on May 22nd.” “Notes of hope, which invite reflection through this historic exhibition,” commented the official at the Casona Hotel during her visit to the nation’s capital to discuss the events taking place in San Miguel de Allende.
She also highlighted that the Guanajuato town continues to distinguish itself as a romantic destination, as many brides choose it for their weddings.
“It is well known that San Miguel de Allende is the ideal setting for romance due to the countless weddings held here, which is why the services offered by wedding planners in our town are increasingly detailed and sophisticated.”
THE BEST GASTRONOMY
The executive emphasized that in the field of gastronomy, San Miguel has become the best option not only in the state but in the country, making it one of the main attractions for tourists.
“Last year we were recognized as the Best Gastronomic Destination in Mexico. We currently have 300 restaurants offering a very diverse range of cuisines.” Versatile, it not only offers a substantial variety in its offerings, but also in its price range, which allows for options for the diverse types of tourists who visit us, as San Miguel has something for every budget.”
He also highlighted that for the past four years, it has also become the venue for one of the most important gastronomic events, Millesime GNP Weekend, in which renowned and internationally renowned chefs participate in the various activities that comprise it, from the general event at the Rosewood Hotel to the High-Altitude Dinners, which this year will take place on the Noia terrace of the Numu Hotel and at the Los Pirules restaurant, with the participation of chefs Marga Coll, Pía Salazar, Alejandro Chamorro, and Rodrigo Rivera Río, on May 22, 23, and 24.
MICHELIN-AWARDED HOTELS
The hotel offering was another aspect he addressed, stating that “the town has options for all budgets. While it’s true that it has boutique hotels distinguished by their exclusivity, it also has hotels with very affordable prices. Part of our objective is to demonstrate that San Miguel de Allende is an inclusive town in all aspects.”
“We currently have 220 hotels with a wide variety of options, and what is certain is that, regardless of their costs, their service is first-class, as demonstrated by the fact that seven hotels received the Michelin star last year.”
Regarding the presence of hotels belonging to international chains, he explained that while the town has distinguished itself by its “boutique-style” offerings, new businesses that have arrived in the town and have a significant number of rooms must abide by the standards that distinguish San Miguel de Allende, with the aim of maintaining the town’s identity.
