With unique landscapes, warm beaches, and unparalleled cuisine, Guerrero reaffirmed its position as one of Mexico’s favorite tourist destinations over the long weekend, welcoming thousands of national and international visitors who enjoyed the charm of the Home of the Sun.
According to a bulletin, Guerrero’s Secretary of Tourism, Simón Quiñones Orozco, reported that, from May 2 to 5, the state’s main tourist destinations welcomed 131,755 visitors, achieving an average hotel occupancy rate of 78.4% and an economic impact exceeding 1.14 billion pesos.
The iconic port of Acapulco led the tourist influx with 82,930 visitors, an overall occupancy rate of 79.4%, and an economic impact exceeding 713 million pesos, reflecting its continued appeal among travelers.
For its part, the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo beach resort reported the arrival of 36,604 people, with an occupancy rate of 80.2% and an economic impact of over 355 million pesos, consolidating its position as an ideal destination for relaxation and nature tourism.
Meanwhile, the colonial charm of Taxco attracted 12,221 tourists, registering a hotel occupancy rate of 52.4% and an economic impact of over 71 million pesos, confirming its appeal as a cultural destination.
Quiñones Orozco emphasized that these results reflect a significant recovery of Guerrero’s anchor tourism destinations, which have gained national and international recognition thanks to the new tourism policy implemented by Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda, as well as the coordination and communication with tourism sector representatives, who have contributed their efforts and commitment.
