Thanks to the remarkable quality of the coffees produced in Nayarit, the state was present at one of the most important international venues for the sector: SCA Expo 2025, organized by the Specialty Coffee Association and held late last month in Houston, Texas, United States.
Representing Nayarit, Emilio Inda—originally from Tequepexpan, in the municipality of Santa María del Oro—participated as part of the Mexican delegation of the “Mexico Beyond Specialty” project, an initiative that brought together some of the most prominent producers from Chiapas, Veracruz, Puebla, the State of Mexico, and, of course, Nayarit.
This national collective had the opportunity to share space with true titans of the global coffee industry, such as Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Vietnam. Far from being left in the shadows, Mexican coffees shone brightly in the “Mexico Beyond Specialty” pavilion, where tasters, buyers, and professionals from around the world were offered specialty coffees that, due to their aromatic complexity and richness in the cup, are positioned among the best in the world.
Emilio Inda emphasized that the experience was deeply enriching, not only because of the level of international exposure, but also because of the opportunity to showcase the artisanal and technical work behind Nayarit coffee. “Many of the coffees presented already have international recognition, but the most valuable thing was confirming that Nayarit’s specialty-processed coffees have the quality necessary not only to compete, but also to establish themselves as one of the leading players in the global market,” he stated.
Nayarit’s participation in this event marks an important milestone for the state’s coffee industry, positioning it on the world map as an emerging region with high-quality offerings, the result of the dedicated work of small producers, innovative processes, and a vision that transcends the commercial to vindicate the cultural and environmental value of coffee.
