A very special night took place at the Teatro de la Ciudad in Querétaro’s capital city with the performance of The Wigs, whose tribute to the greatest rock band of all time, The Beatles, roused the people of Querétaro who arrived punctually to relive the songs that marked their lives.
From early in the morning, the venue began to gather fans of all ages, who, wearing the Liverpool quartet’s t-shirts, arrived to be part of All Together Now, the show The Wigs is presenting as a tribute to The Beatles. They are also preparing to celebrate their 21st anniversary in style. “Querétaro saw us born almost 21 years ago, and we are happy to continue performing in this beautiful city, so important to the group,” said the band’s leader.
The Wigs: 20 Years Keeping the Beatles’ Memory Alive
The tribute band is one of the most renowned on the Mexican scene, and its history began in Querétaro.
Grandparents, children, young people, and entire families enjoyed the music of Carlos, Germán, Adrián, Jorge, and Arturo, who compiled the best of the music that has impacted since 1960. Songs like “Here Comes the Sun,” “Come Together,” “Hey Jude,” “Love Me Do,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Yesterday,” and “Help,” among many others, simply had the audience raving, as they sang along to the hits masterfully performed by the Mexican band.
“It’s so cool to come here now with my kids and teach them good music, the kind that never goes out of style, and with such a poor musical offering for young people, these classics are pure gold. My mom and dad instilled this music in me; I’ve always listened to it since I was a child, and now my kids are familiar with it too,” said Margarita Barrera.
Laura and Josse have been friends since childhood. They are both 75 years old, and this music takes them back to their glory days, to the Querétaro afternoon parties of yesteryear. “We danced to them, we enjoyed them, we were in love with them, while our parents would ask, ‘How can you like that long-haired guy?’ And the boys of that time wanted to have that same long-haired look,” they say with a laugh. These two beautiful women truly enjoyed the evening, where they sang along, shouted, clapped, and danced to every single hit performed by The Wigs.
Ricardo Chapa and Tere Ortiz were the event organizers. They mentioned that this is just a “taste” of what’s already in the works for the next Beatles Anthology Festival, which will take place in the coming months and which has given them so much satisfaction, so the 2025 edition will be no exception.
For two hours and thirty minutes, The Wigs thrilled a theater that was ignited by memories that seem to be still present, by the nostalgia of a past that clings to stay and that undoubtedly preserves the good and even the bad moments that mark life.
