The violence in Sinaloa continues unabated. On Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, car fires and roadblocks were reported in at least five municipalities in the state, local authorities reported.
“The Ministry of Public Security reports that, as a result of the events that occurred on May 7, 2025, federal, state, and municipal authorities, working together to remove seven roadblocks reported in the municipalities of Culiacán, Navolato, Rosario, Elota, and Mocorito.
“We reiterate to the people of Sinaloa that we will continue working to address incidents that affect the safety of our citizens,” the Sinaloa Ministry of Security reported on the social media platform X.
In response, some users of the same social media platform criticized the authorities, stating that they are not doing their part to ensure the safety of the population.
As a result of the unrest, schools at all levels announced the suspension of classes, as of yesterday, in at least 10 municipalities across the state.
The Autonomous University of Sinaloa announced that it suspended classes for the third day in the last week due to the ongoing violence in the state.
Cartridges Seized
Mechanical equipment was seized in a joint operation by the Army. Mexican authorities, in coordination with the National Guard, the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, the Attorney General’s Office, the State Attorney General’s Office, and the State Public Security Secretariat, reported that a drone, chargers, drugs, and other items were seized in Mazatlán.
“The personnel were conducting reconnaissance operations in the vicinity of the town of Siqueros, in the municipality of Mazatlán, where the following items were located and seized: 1 drone; 11 drone batteries; 1 black box with cables; 1 gray box with a remote control; 7 metal magazines for a long gun; 398 cartridges; 1 bag of green grass with characteristics of marijuana.”
The local Security Secretariat indicated that everything seized was made available to the authorities “to comply with the law.”
