Nuevo León government assumes security in Rayones for an indefinite period

Arguing that recent circumstances of insecurity have affected social order in the municipality of Rayones, the State Government announced that it will assume control of the town’s security, a measure that will be immediate and indefinite.

The declaration was published this Thursday in the Official State Gazette, in a document signed by Governor Samuel García.

The state specifically argues that it has observed that the crime phenomenon in that municipality has evolved, disrupting public order to the detriment of society and its institutions.

“The State Executive, taking into consideration that circumstances of insecurity have arisen that are affecting social order in the municipality of Rayones… declares that the State immediately and temporarily assumes the authority to issue orders to the police of Rayones, Nuevo León,” the declaration states.

The city council in question has reportedly already been notified of this, although they have not officially responded.

In this regard, security control in the municipality will be the responsibility of the Civil Force, and the state secretariat headed by Gerardo Escamilla Vargas will be responsible.

The document also establishes that the declaration will remain in effect indefinitely if the conditions that prompted it do not disappear.
