“We Oaxacan women are living through a dark winter! The Oaxacan spring has not arrived for us!” affirmed the feminist organization Consortium for Parliamentary Dialogue and Equity, announcing that 241 femicides have been recorded in the eight regions of Oaxaca under Salomón Jara Cruz’s administration.

“Never before have we reached such levels of cruelty and viciousness in attacks against women, but also, never before have the perpetrators enjoyed such impunity and protection from the State; we even see them embedded in public institutions, untouched despite the multiple complaints filed against them,” she stated.

She emphasized that “Oaxaca is currently experiencing an exacerbated human rights crisis, in which the increase in attacks and violence against women and girls is particularly notable.”

Since the Salomón Jara Cruz administration took office on December 1, 2022, 241 femicides have been recorded in the eight regions of Oaxaca, according to the Oaxaca Consortium’s Femicide Violence Platform.

They insisted that the Oaxacan spring, the motto of the current Morena administration, has not arrived for women, as evidenced by the 241 femicides so far during his six-year term.
