A 52-year-old American man, Jim “N”, has been apprehended by Mexican authorities in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, following a coordinated operation between the Ministerial Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) and the National Migration Institute (INM).
According to reports, Jim “N” was being sought by US authorities on a federal arrest warrant stemming from his alleged involvement in conspiracy to possess controlled substances with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. The individual, originally from Texas, had been on the run for an unspecified period.
The arrest was facilitated through information sharing between Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the United States Marshals Service (USMS), which ultimately led authorities to Jim “N”‘s location on Freemont Boulevard in the Benito Juárez neighborhood of Puerto Peñasco.
Following his capture, Jim “N” was handed over to the National Migration Institute (INM) for transfer to the Lukeville, Arizona, border crossing. He is currently being held in the custody of US authorities at the Lukeville port of entry.
The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJES) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with international agencies in efforts to track down and extradite wanted individuals. This joint effort aims to strengthen the fight against organized crime in the region by disrupting supply chains and bringing perpetrators to justice.
The operation serves as a testament to the ongoing cooperation between Mexican and US authorities in their shared quest to combat cross-border crime and maintain public safety along the shared border.
