Querétaro and Jalpan concentrate cases of dengue

Querétaro and Jalpan de Serra are the municipalities with the highest number of confirmed dengue cases in the state, according to information from the state Health Secretariat.

As of May 9, the latest update, a total of 15 positive cases have been confirmed, of which five correspond to people residing in the Querétaro capital and four in the Serrano municipality, representing 60% of the state’s total.

The remaining cases are distributed in the municipalities of El Marqués and Peñamiller, with two cases each, as well as in Cadereyta de Montes and Tequisquiapan, with one confirmed case.

Among all the cases, there are nine women and six men. Of the total, 11 were classified as non-severe dengue and four as dengue with warning signs.

The Ministry of Health urged the population to eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites, protect themselves from bites, and seek medical care immediately if they experience symptoms consistent with the disease.

In the country, the May 5 report reported a total of 3,234 confirmed cases of dengue fever and 18 deaths. For this reason, authorities maintain ongoing epidemiological surveillance, deploying control and prevention measures in various areas.

They urge the population to allow access to health brigades to prevent the spread of the virus.
Between January 1 and April 30, 2025, vector brigades worked in 29 localities across the state. As part of these efforts, 16.95 tons of debris were collected, abatement was applied in 24,004 homes and 49,232 water tanks, providing coverage to 61,171 residents.

Indoor spraying was also carried out in 1,222 homes, with spatial fumigation on 180 hectares, and 15,140 ovitraps were placed in areas considered at risk. A total of 34,811 mosquito eggs were collected.
