Two state police officers were arrested at the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) Tower, located on Ignacio Zaragoza Street in downtown Xalapa, on the afternoon of Friday, May 9.
Ministry agents arrived at the SSP Tower, located next to the Veracruz Government Palace, to execute two arrest warrants against the security officers, identified as Óscar and Isaí.
The arrest was ordered by a judge because the state police officers are allegedly linked to an express kidnapping. The officers are accused of setting up illegal checkpoints near the Las Ánimas area, one of the most valuable areas in the southern part of the Veracruz capital.
In the heart of Xalapa, two police officers accused of kidnapping were arrested.
The operation took place on Zaragoza Street, to the astonishment of several employees from both the Public Security Secretariat and local businesses.
The Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) is expected to release the details of these arrest warrants in the coming hours.
