The Puebla City Council has repaired 38,000 potholes out of a total of 200,000 planned for 2025, which represents just 20% of the goal, reported Édgar Dávila Ramos, head of the Undersecretariat of Infrastructure.
During his report to the Infrastructure, Mobility, and Public Services Commission, he detailed that between October 2024 and April 2025, 50 million pesos have been invested in this pothole repair strategy, for a total of 100,000 planned for this year.
The official announced that, after the rainy season, a second contract for another 50 million pesos will be signed to continue the work for the rest of the year, in order to reach the goal of 200,000 potholes repaired.
The Undersecretary explained that the pothole repair work is being carried out during the night shift to avoid disrupting traffic, and that 20 crews are currently involved.
However, during the rainy season, the number of crews will be reduced due to weather conditions that make the work difficult.
Dávila Ramos urged citizens to report potholes and indicate their location, either through hotline 072 or through the Puebla City Council’s social media channels.
In total, between October 2024 and April 2025, the City Council has allocated 548 million pesos to public works through 28 contracts.
It is worth noting that by mid-2024, the outgoing administration led by Adán Domínguez Sánchez and Eduardo Rivera had allocated 291 million pesos to address 345,000 potholes.
Days before the end of the administration, in coordination with the state government, a nighttime patching program was launched with an initial investment of 50 million pesos, focused on serving 30 neighborhoods located in the four quadrants of the Puebla capital.
