The Simón Bolívar Training Ship, also known as the “Ambassador Without Borders,” has sailed more than 4,500 nautical miles in its journey through Caribbean and Latin American ports. It began its voyage in Saint George’s, the capital of Grenada, as part of the Bolivarian Military Academy’s training program, visiting five countries in total. It is currently in Tampico.

After departing the first port, the ship headed to Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda; it then continued its voyage through the Caribbean Sea to Honduras, before arriving in Havana, Cuba.

These are the routes completed by the Simón Bolívar Training Ship.
From there, the ship continued its route to Mexican territory, arriving in the municipality of Tampico and then the port of Veracruz. Its itinerary also includes a stop in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and will culminate in Los Roques, Venezuela.

Part of this voyage aims to spread a message of peace, while seeking recognition for the educational and diplomatic work it carries out on the high seas. The vessel is made up of a crew of 190, 34 of whom are women, including cadets and sergeants, who continue their professional training on board.

All vessels, both private and commercial, must carry life jackets for their occupants.

From May 13 to 26, the Simón Bolívar Training Ship will visit Mexican ports as part of the 35th Caribbean Alliance 2025 Institutions Abroad Cruise. Its next stop will be the port of Veracruz, from May 21 to 25 of this year, where citizens will have the opportunity to learn about this emblematic vessel through guided tours.

From the Caribbean to Veracruz: Opportunity to Learn About the Sailing Ship

The crew, composed of third-year cadets from the Bolivarian Navy Military Academy, will participate in activities both on board and on land, including official visits to military and cultural institutions, as well as community events.

The iconic sailing ship, known as The Ambassador Without Borders, is a symbol of the Venezuelan Navy and a key tool for training new officers.
