In less than 24 hours, two elderly adults were murdered in separate incidents in Mexico City, one in the Gustavo A. Madero borough and the other in Cuauhtémoc, leading Mexico City authorities to open two investigations for intentional homicide.
The first case was reported in the Nueva Tenochtitlán neighborhood of Gustavo A. Madero. A 69-year-old man who worked as a parking attendant was beaten by another suspected car park attendant. According to the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), C2 Norte officers alerted officers to a fight on 87th Street and 84th Street.
The victim’s 44-year-old daughter told officers that her father was attacked while working near the 10 de Mayo Market. The argument allegedly arose over control of the parking space. The attacker beat the elderly man unconscious. When paramedics arrived, they confirmed that he no longer had vital signs.
Mexico City police arrested the alleged perpetrator, a 26-year-old man, who was located a few blocks away. He was taken to the Public Ministry, where his legal status will be determined.

Hours later, in the Atlampa neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc municipality, a 65-year-old man was murdered inside his home. The victim was found with multiple wounds caused by a machete.
The crime occurred in an apartment on Ciprés Street. SSC officers responded to a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, they found the man lying on the floor, with blood stains on his body. Paramedics diagnosed his death as a penetrating wound to the right hemothorax.
A man who identified himself as the victim’s brother told authorities that moments earlier he had received a call from the victim, in which he informed him that he had been attacked by another man during a fight.
