The Jalisco government will receive approximately 300 armored tactical vehicles in the coming days, as part of the renewal of its security fleet.

Images of one of these Jalisco State Police patrol vehicles, with the registration number PE-081, are circulating on social media. It is a Cybertruck from Tesla, owned by renowned entrepreneur Elon Musk. Black Mamba and pickup trucks will also be available.

The electric vehicles will be among the first patrol vehicles of this type in Mexico. The images are being revealed alongside the security plan that Guadalajara authorities will implement ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

What will the security plan consist of?

It was reported that the force to safeguard athletes, tourists, and citizens will be 4,500 officers for the municipalities of Guadalajara and Zapopan.

“It’s really the entire state force. We’re talking about nearly 4,500 officers, including traffic police and preventive police, it’s the entire state force,” explained Juan Pablo Hernández, Secretary of Security in Jalisco.

The Secretary of Security in Jalisco, Juan Pablo Hernández, explained that surveillance will be prioritized at host hotels where soccer players and tourists will be staying.

“At this point, practically everyone who will be attending the World Cup has already secured their tickets. They already have to consider accommodations. So, we already have a radar of where the largest number of people will be gathering, where they will be staying. There are even some who don’t have a stadium ticket but will come to Jalisco to attend the Fan Fest or other celebrations,” he explained.

The increased security will not be limited to the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area; it will also extend to municipalities with the largest tourist attractions in Jalisco, such as Puerto Vallarta, Mazamitla, Tequila, Chapala, among others.

C5 cameras will also be renovated

A six-year investment of 6 billion pesos will be allocated to the new Escudo Jalisco C5, a project that state authorities presented last Tuesday to Marcela Figueroa Franco, executive secretary of the National Public Security System, at a meeting held at Casa Jalisco.

The plan includes increasing video surveillance points by up to 50 percent, doubling monitoring capacity, and providing updated systems; it must be ready before the start of the World Cup in June 2026.

At the Executive Security Commission of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, Lemus Navarro informed the municipal presidents that the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System presented a diagnosis of the opportunities offered by the current C5. The new Escudo Jalisco C5 will have a technological platform that will allow it to be interconnected with other video surveillance systems, both federal and municipal, which will result in greater coordination between the different security agencies.
