This Saturday, May 24, 2025, a series of incidents on the Mexico-Querétaro highway generated monumental traffic delays of up to six hours in the direction of Mexico City. Authorities reported at least three incidents that severely affected traffic at various key points along the highway.
The first incident occurred under the Mexiquense Outer Ring Road bridge, heading toward Mexico City, near the Lechería intersection. Two vehicles collided and ended up cross-country, blocking all three lanes of traffic. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
After several hours of maneuvers to tow the vehicles, traffic was reopened, although with significant disruptions to traffic flow.
Another incident was also reported at the same time on the Mexiquense Outer Ring Road, heading toward Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), at kilometer 017+000, in the municipality of Tultepec. This accident increased traffic chaos, extending traffic lines for more than 12 kilometers.
Second incident at Kilometer 40
A second accident occurred in the center lanes at Kilometer 40, heading toward Tepotzotlán. A red vehicle overturned and ended up on the asphalt, blocking traffic. Emergency services responded to the scene, but no serious injuries have been reported so far. However, the incident caused additional traffic congestion in this area.
Third incident leaves at least four dead
This Saturday, a serious incident occurred near the Tula toll booth, heading toward Querétaro, further complicating traffic disruptions toward the Arco Norte interchange.
Through social media, the Arco Norte Highway reported: “Due to an accident, traffic is closed at km 62+500 toward Atlacomulco, section Tula 2 – Querétaro. The last exit available is Tula 1. Use alternate routes. Traveling toward Texmelucan is only possible on the low-speed lane.”
According to initial reports from the National Guard, the accident involved three tractor-trailers and a private vehicle, resulting in a preliminary death toll of four.
Authorities continue working in the area to clear traffic, while asking drivers to use alternate routes and remain alert for official updates. This latest incident worsens the traffic situation on an already complicated day due to other accidents in the Mexico-Querétaro Highway region.
