An armed group from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) intercepted a tow truck transporting a Civil Guard patrol car, got out the driver, and set fire to both vehicles on the Tepalcatepec-Coalcomán highway.

The incident occurred near the town of Obregón, located on the border of both municipalities, at the intersection of the Tierra Caliente and Sierra highways.

Minutes earlier, in the municipality of Apatzingán, a delivery driver for a commercial company was shot and killed by another criminal cell allied with the CJNG.

Residents of the Palo Alto neighborhood reported that armed individuals had carried out a shooting attack.

The victim was the delivery driver for the commercial company, who took himself to a hospital in that city, where his condition is unknown.

Prior to this attack, a young man was shot and killed very close to that location by the same armed group.

Attack on Police in the Municipality of Tingüindín

These incidents follow the invasion of the municipality of Tingüindín by a group of police officers traveling in several vans, where they carried out an attack on Municipal Police officers.

The result of this criminal attack was two officers shot dead and one seriously injured.

Reports indicate that the officers were patrolling in the town of San Juanico when the group fired at them with long guns and Barrett .50 caliber rifles.

One of the municipal police officers died at the scene and two others were injured; however, another of the wounded officers died while receiving medical attention.

Simultaneously, another armed group from the CJNG stormed the municipality of Buenavista, where they violently seized several cargo trucks.

Preliminary reports indicate that this criminal organization drove through and set fire to five vehicles at different highway points in this municipality in the Tierra Caliente region.

A few kilometers away, but now on the Jalisco state side, another group robbed a driver of his truck and also set it on fire.

This third criminal attack occurred in the municipality of Jilotlán, on the border with the municipality of Tepalcatepec, Michoacán.

The mobilization and these last two criminal acts were perpetrated despite the presence of the National Guard and personnel from the 43rd Military Zone.

Federal security agencies stated that the attacks and vehicle burnings are the reaction of the criminal organization founded and led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, “El Mencho.”

This is the result of operations by the Mexican Army’s elite group, which is carrying out operations at one of the intersections where these municipalities converge.
