The Guanajuato State Public Security Forces (FSPE) reported this Friday on the location and demolition of a property in the municipality of San Francisco del Rincón that housed a network of commercial premises connected by an underground tunnel, allegedly used to facilitate the escape of members of a criminal group.
The operation, which generated strong mobilization in the municipality’s Historic Center, was carried out with the participation of authorities from all three levels of government. According to official information, the demolished property had been under surveillance by security forces since 2022, due to well-founded suspicions of its use for criminal purposes.
The operation began around 10:00 a.m. on Venustiano Carranza Street, between Morelos and Allende Streets, a downtown area that was cordoned off by security personnel. During the operation, vehicular and pedestrian traffic were closed, generating surprise and concern among residents and business owners in the area.

Members of the State Public Security Forces (FSPE), the Municipal Police, the National Guard, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) were deployed to the site.
In addition, a surveillance helicopter flew over the area while demolition and securing of the building was carried out.
According to authorities, the property housed commercial premises connected by a tunnel, the purpose of which was to facilitate the escape of members of a criminal group operating in the region. Investigations indicate that the building was illegally occupied and adapted with underground infrastructure.
“The space was demolished to return it to the citizens of San Francisco del Rincón,” the FSPE said in a statement posted on social media. It was also specified that the actions are part of an urban restoration strategy promoted by the state government, within the framework of the CONFIA security plan.
The State Secretariat of Security and Peace added that the building posed a risk to the safety of residents, both due to its use for criminal purposes and due to the structural deterioration resulting from clandestine modifications.
In parallel with the security actions, state authorities urged the public to report suspicious activity to the anonymous tip line 089, as part of efforts to contain crime in the state.
