Why are there so many earthquakes in Mexico?
The main cause of the seismic movements that occur in Mexico is its geographical position, as it is located on the North American, Caribbean, Cocos, Pacific, and Rivera tectonic plates.
Can earthquakes be predicted?
Although attempts have been made worldwide, no organization or individual has been certified to effectively predict earthquakes, supported by science and with relevant practical implementation.
Recommendations for the Mexican population
In the event of an earthquake, it is essential to remain calm and seek shelter in a safe place. Stay away from windows and objects that could fall, and seek shelter under a table or in an interior corner. If you are outside, stay away from buildings and structures that could collapse.
After the earthquake, check for injured people around you and help if possible. Stay informed about the situation through the radio or social media and follow the instructions of the authorities. Avoid using the phone unless it is an emergency to avoid overloading communication lines.
