The mayor of Oaxaca de Juárez, Ray Chagoya, participated this Friday in the 2025 Oaxacan Coffee Convention “Direct Treatment and Fair Price,” held at the Plaza de la Danza and organized by the State Secretariat for Agri-Food Promotion and Rural Development (SEFADER).
At this meeting, which was attended by the state governor, Salomón Jara Cruz, and Julio Berdegué Sacristán, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of Mexico, the strategic value of coffee was recognized as a product that gives Oaxaca its identity and represents a source of livelihood for thousands of families in the communities.
He stated that the 2025 Oaxacan Coffee Convention is a fundamental space to strengthen direct dialogue between coffee growers, authorities, and marketers, and to advance toward fair treatment for our coffee.
“It was a pleasure to meet with our Governor, Salomón Jara Cruz, the Secretary of Agriculture of the Mexican Government, Julio Berdegué Sacristán, and the head of SEFADER, Victor López Leyva, at this meeting, which reaffirms the commitment to continue transforming the countryside from the ground up.”
Chagoya emphasized that, from Oaxaca de Juárez, we support this effort and reiterate our willingness to continue working for justice, development, and the well-being of producers.
