Puerto Escondido beach swallows the bodies of two foreigners vacationing in Oaxaca.

Two foreigners disappeared Sunday afternoon after being swept away by strong waves on Punta Zicatela beach, in the jurisdiction of the tourist destination of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca.

After confirming their disappearance, Civil Protection authorities and lifeguards are conducting a search to determine the whereabouts of the visitors.

Lost tourists in Puerto Escondido entered an area not suitable for swimming

According to reports from authorities, the two tourists entered the sea on Sunday afternoon/evening in an area not suitable for swimming, as the area has high waves due to the swell phenomenon.

The tourists were identified as Chris Ankele, approximately 40 years old, originally from the United States, and Braydon Bretzer, 31 years old, originally from Canada.

With the support of boats, specialized water rescue personnel, and personnel from the Directorate of Fisheries and Nautical Services, the search and location of the tourists continues.

One of the missing foreigners found dead in Puerto Escondido

This Tuesday afternoon, the municipal authority of San Pedro Mixtepec reported that, as a result of the search efforts carried out, the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office confirmed the location of a body belonging to one of the two tourists reported missing.

They indicated that the body belongs to Braydon L., a 31-year-old Canadian citizen, who was found dead in the maritime zone located at coordinates 15.8537° north latitude and 97.0733° west longitude.

“The search continues to determine the whereabouts of the second tourist, following the protocols established in the search plan at sea,” the local authority reported.
