The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT), has approximately 21 bridges and interchanges with a length of 16.1 kilometers (km) under construction or about to begin.
As part of the National Highway Infrastructure Program, the projects, which represent an estimated investment of 12.95 billion pesos, will benefit 10 states: Mexico City, Colima, Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Morelos, Baja California Sur, Querétaro, and Quintana Roo.
Some have connections to other states, which will allow greater mobility for users and boost the regional economy.
The projects include:
Vehicle Bridges 1 and 2 in Alameda Oriente. They will connect with federal highway MEX 15, Mexico-Puebla km 9+000, and highway MEX 136D Peñón-Texcoco km 0+000, on the borders of the State of Mexico and Mexico City. Work is expected to begin in July 2025 and will be completed in just over two years.
Arco Norte Vehicular Overpass. Between km 2+950 and km 4+100 of the Arco Norte, in Colima. It will have three lanes of traffic in each direction; work is about to begin and will be completed over a period of two years.
Access to the Port of Veracruz. Located at km 94+360, work is about to begin and will take more than two years to complete.
Santa Ana Viaduct. It will be built over the Puebla-Belén Federal Highway 121 interchange (from km 29+420 to km 30+028) in the state of Tlaxcala. Construction is about to begin and will take just over two years to complete.
Amado Nervo Bridge. This new route will connect Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas, over the Ameca River and its access points with Avenida Federación, in the states of Nayarit and Jalisco. Construction will begin in the coming days and be completed by 2026.
Av. Pérez Escobosa Vehicular Overpass. Located at km 0+770 of the Mazatlán-Culiacán highway, Sinaloa. Construction will begin this June and be completed in two years.
Arco Sur Railway Overpass. 1.2 km long, located between km 0+224 and km 1+370 of the Arco Sur, in Colima. Construction will begin this month and take two years to complete.
Jojutla Bridge. It will expand from one to two lanes over the Yautepec River, located at km 1+600 of the Jojutla-Valle de Vázquez-Chinameca Highway, in the municipality of Jojutla, Morelos. Work is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Fonatur Roundabout. 1.5 km long. Construction of a four-lane underpass (two in each direction); located at km 30+300 of the Cabo San Lucas-La Paz Highway, Baja California Sur. Construction is already underway and will be completed in two years. An investment of 469 million pesos will be allocated, 200 million pesos in 2025, and 269 million pesos in 2026.
Barrio V Bridge. To be built in Colima, with a length of 0.7 km; an investment of 200 million pesos will be required, and its construction period will be one year.
Main Entrance to Manzanillo. This is a 0.3 km railway overpass; work will be carried out over a period of one year; the investment will be 300 million pesos.
Vehicular Overpass at the “La Flechita” Port Complex in Colima, with a length of 0.7 km; an investment of 200 million pesos. The project will be completed in one year.
Reconstruction of the Trancas Dam. In Colima, with a length of 0.15 km, the project will begin in the coming days and its construction period will be two years.
El Chical Reconstruction. In Colima, the 0.27 km long bridge will begin in the next few days and will be completed over a period of two years.
Las Tunas Reconstruction. In Colima, the 0.2 km long bridge will begin this month and will take two years.
Autonomous University of Morelos (UAEM) Vehicle Access Bridge. In the state of Morelos, the 1.6 km long bridge will take one year to complete, with an investment of 350 million pesos.
Railway Overpass (Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue). In Nayarit, the 0.6 km long bridge will be completed over a period of one year, with an investment of 250 million pesos.
Two bridges on Los Patos Avenue. In Querétaro. Measuring 1.1 km in length, the project will be completed over two years with funding of 490 million pesos.
Bridge to overcome a geological fault. In Quintana Roo. Measuring 0.4 km, with an investment of 300 million pesos, the project will be completed in one year.
Coatzacoalcos I Bridge. In Veracruz. Measuring 2.2 km and with an investment of 4.4 billion pesos, the project will be completed over a three-year period.
Paso del Toro Interchange. In Veracruz, measuring 0.35 km, the project will be completed in one year with an investment of 350 million pesos.
