The former Morena candidate for the municipality of San Pablo del Monte, Máximo Oscar Luna Capilla, was murdered this Wednesday.
He served as director of administration and finance for the Colleges of Scientific and Technological Studies of the State of Tlaxcala (Cecyte).
The governor of the state of Tlaxcala, Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros, confirmed the incident.
In a statement, the educational institution mourned the loss of the official.
“In these moments of pain, we join with respect and solidarity in the grief that overwhelms his family, friends, and loved ones,” she said.
For its part, the San Pablo del Monte city council also acknowledged the murder, as family members work in the municipal administration.
“With deep sorrow, we join in the sad loss. (…) We send a supportive hug and our best wishes for strength to his family in this difficult time,” she said.
State Prosecutor’s Office Initiates Murder of Former Candidate
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Tlaxcala reported that it has opened an investigation for aggravated homicide following the death of the official by gunshot.
“Following a report to the 911 Emergency Service, a person was found dead, so officers from the Investigative Police and experts from the Institute of Forensic Sciences (INCIFO) went to the scene and removed the body,” she commented.
Luna Capilla’s Career
Luna Capilla ran for Morena in 2021 for the San Pablo del Monte city council, and in 2024 she was a candidate for local deputy.
She also served as comptroller of the Tlaxcala College of Bachelors (Cobat), and in 2019 she was a National Servant in the Ministry of Welfare.
