The Pachuca City Council carried out operations to clean various roads and remove damaged vehicles following the recent flooding.
Officers from the Department of Public Safety, Traffic, and Roads towed the damaged vehicles from the Progreso neighborhood in the capital of Hidalgo. In this area, the accumulation of water caused significant damage.
At the same time, workers from the Department of Public Works and Services carried out cleanup tasks in various parts of the city. They worked on El Minero Boulevard, the El Arbolito neighborhood, the El Palmar Extension, Plutarco E. Calles, and Morelos and Allende streets.
The personnel removed mud, trash, and other debris carried by the current. They also cleared clogged storm drains.
In a statement, the Pachuca City Council assured that it maintains coordination between municipal agencies to promptly address citizen reports following the flooding. In addition, the municipal administration asked the public to follow official instructions during the rainy season and avoid littering in public streets, as waste clogs drainage and worsens flooding.
Caasim advances with rehabilitation of Los Tuzos after flooding
The Water and Sewerage Commission of Intermunicipal Systems (Caasim) is nearing completion
of rehabilitation work in the Los Tuzos subdivision, located in Mineral de la Reforma, as it is one of the areas most affected by the flooding of June 2.
The overflowing of the Río de las Avenidas flooded six blocks of the subdivision and affected several nearby plots.
Caasim director Juan Evel Chávez Trovamala explained that it was an unusual natural phenomenon, difficult to predict. He hopes it will not be repeated in the short term.
From the first hours after the disaster, CAASIM personnel, in coordination with the National Water Commission (Conagua) and state authorities, installed six- and 12-inch pumps to remove stagnant water.
Once the drainage work is completed, Civil Protection personnel will inspect the homes with the neighbors and verify whether they are safe to live in.
The head of CAASIM thanked the community for their support, which provided food and drinks to the crews working in the affected area since the day of the incident.
In addition, the Commission cut off water services in municipalities in the Pachuca Metropolitan Area due to power outages in the Téllez aqueduct and the saturation of the La Estanzuela and Jaramillo dams.
The river’s overflow and the materials carried by the rain affected the water quality, prompting the activation of purification processes.
