While some of the NASCAR Cup Series teams were preparing for the Michigan race, another group was preparing their cars and trailers to leave the track hours later to begin the long journey to the Mexican border in Laredo, Texas, with the mission of crossing with the cars that will compete on June 13-15 at the Hermanos Rodriguez Raceway.

Denny Hamlin’s victory at Michigan, followed by Daniel Suárez’s 14th-place finish after an incident, will be remembered as the results leading up to the first NASCAR Cup Series race held in Latin America.

The lead trucks left Michigan once the checkered flag fell, while other trucks arrived at the oval to transport the cars that were on track to team headquarters in North Carolina after the race.

The plan is to arrive in Laredo, Texas, during the course of Monday, complete customs procedures, which have already been completed in Michigan with U.S. border officials, and, once in Mexico, be escorted to arrive at the Hermanos Rodríguez Racetrack on Tuesday.

The main haulers will access through the Arco Norte (North Arch) with the goal of landing directly at the Mexico City International Airport and beginning the setup of the garages for both the Cup Series and the Xfinity Series.
