Through billboards displayed in Veracruz, state authorities announced a reward of thousands of pesos for information leading to the capture of Abraham Morales Trinidad, a man nicknamed El Doble Cero and/or Thor and/or Águila. News reports identify him as an alleged cartel boss of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The billboard display was recorded on June 10, one day after Governor Rocío Nahle reported on state authorities’ actions at her press conference.

“The State Attorney General’s Office is also going to place this reward in the southern region. Along with this, it is linked to a figure, a perpetrator of violence who was also released from prison. That’s the problem when you have perpetrators of violence who have been committing crimes and then are released,” was part of what the governor said on June 9.

Who is “El Doble Cero”?

The material appearing with the photograph of the wanted man and the logo of the Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office indicates that anyone who offers information leading to the arrest of “El Doble Cero” could receive a reward of 350,000 pesos.

This individual is accused of homicide and had previously been arrested. It should be noted that in December 2019, the arrest of Abraham Morales Trinidad was reported in the municipality of Coatzacoalcos. The arrest was carried out by members of the Navy (Semar).

News reports identified him as a leader of the CJNG (CJNG), as well as a person allegedly linked to the death of Mariano Rodríguez Pérez, the director of Municipal Public Security of San Juan Evangelista, who was murdered in February 2019.

Similarly, “El Doble Cero” is linked to the murder of businesswoman Susana Carrera, who was kidnapped for a week and for whom her captors demanded a payment exceeding 4 million pesos.

Abraham Morales was also arrested in mid-November 2014, when he was presented by then-Attorney General Luis Ángel Bravo as the alleged murderer of José Ignacio Ferez, the manager of the Municipal Water and Sanitation Commission.

Security analyst David Saucedo told Infobae México that the man had reportedly broken away from the CJNG and joined a criminal group in León, Guanajuato.
