The State Tourism Secretariat (Sectur Oaxaca) reminds us that the Oaxacan Coast Route is currently connected to four domestic destinations and one international destination via the Puerto Escondido Airport.
Thus, flights operate to Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara, as well as to Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), with airlines such as Viva, Aeroméxico, and Volaris. Additionally, there is a flight to Houston, United States, operated by United Airlines.
In this regard, from January to May, air traffic reached 395,628 people and an average occupancy rate of 83.10 percent.
The head of the state agency, Saymi Pineda Velasco, emphasized that promotion and outreach efforts have been strengthened to encourage the economic impact of various social sectors that earn income from tourism-related activities.
He noted that, through these flights, more visitors have the opportunity to experience Puerto Escondido, one of the jewels of the Oaxaca Coast, recognized as the international surfing capital. This connectivity is strengthened with the new Barranca Larga-Ventanilla highway, which allows travel from the state capital to this region in just two and a half hours.
The destination offers a wide variety of beaches ideal for tourists to enjoy, including Zicatela, world-renowned for its waves, perfect for surfing. Carrizalillo and Manzanillo beaches are also located here, ideal for swimming and various water activities.
The port is also known for its sport fishing area, and visitors can visit local markets and nearby sites such as Manialtepec Lagoon, where they can admire the natural phenomenon of bioluminescence.
