The streets of Querétaro’s main square will be affected by traffic disruptions this Saturday, June 14th, due to the ninth annual LGBT+ Pride and Dignity March.
The operation will be carried out from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will include closures on main avenues and access points to the Historic Center.
The streets and avenues to be affected include Ignacio Zaragoza Avenue, Universidad Avenue, Ezequiel Montes Avenue, and Circunvalación Avenue, at all entrances and exits to the Historic Center.
The 9th Querétaro LGBT+ Pride March has been announced.
It will begin in Jardín Guerrero with an LGBT+ market and culminate in Plaza Fundadores with an artistic event led by María León.
Authorities recommended that citizens use alternative routes such as Ignacio Pérez Street, Constituyentes Avenue, Corregidora Norte Avenue, Epigmenio González Avenue, and Bernardo Quintana Boulevard, to avoid delays or traffic conflicts during the event.
This will be the ninth edition of the march in the capital of Querétaro. This year’s motto is “Against hate and inequality, pride and dignity,” which seeks to raise awareness of the LGBT+ population in the state and denounce discrimination in various social spheres.
The starting point will be Jardín Guerrero, where a market for LGBT+ entrepreneurs and health centers will be set up starting at noon. These will offer free HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B testing. The march is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
The route includes the following sections: starting from the Francisco I. Madero pedestrian walkway, turning onto Ignacio Allende Norte, passing along Universidad Avenue, crossing Corregidora Street, joining Ignacio Zaragoza Avenue, turning onto Manuel Acuña Street, and arriving at Plaza Fundadores, where an artistic performance will take place as part of the closing event.
During the march, the roads included in the route will have temporary or partial closures as the march progresses. The Municipal Public Security Secretariat and traffic officers will be in charge of the operation and the protection of participants.
