Federal authorities thwarted the transfer of 110,000 fentanyl pills and arrested three people, including a U.S. citizen, during a joint operation in Ciudad Juárez.
The detainees were identified as Jesús Chávez García (a Mexican national), Irma Ayline Solís (a U.S. citizen), and Carlos Alexis Fierro Sánchez (a Mexican-American). The latter has an outstanding arrest warrant in the United States for drug-related offenses.
Secretary of Security Omar García Harfuch shared the results of the operation on his social media, where he highlighted the active participation of the Mexican Armed Forces and the collaboration with U.S. authorities.
The operation was carried out by members of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the Ministry of the Navy (Semar), the National Guard (GN), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as part of the binational strategy to curb the trafficking of synthetic drugs.
According to the Mexican Government’s Security Cabinet, the arrest occurred following patrol work in the Fuentes del Valle neighborhood, where officers detected a vehicle attempting to evade police presence. After a brief chase, the vehicle was intercepted, and upon inspection, 10 transparent plastic packages containing 110,000 fentanyl pills were found.
