A storm of heavy and intense rain will continue to hit the following states from Monday to Thursday

5

The heavy rainy season will continue throughout the week in more than 20 states across the country, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

In its forecast for June 23-26, the National Water Commission (Conagua) predicts very heavy rainfall with intense rainfall, accompanied by lightning and hail, which could also cause rising river and stream levels, landslides, flooding, puddles, and reduced visibility.

During Sunday night and early Monday morning, the rainy season will continue over much of Mexico. This is caused by low-pressure channels over the Northern and Central Plateaus, the northeast, east, and southeast of Mexico. This interaction with atmospheric instability and the influx of moisture from both oceans will cause heavy rainfall in Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Sinaloa. Very heavy rainfall is expected in Aguascalientes, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos, and Tlaxcala; with heavy rainfall in Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco.

The monsoon-type circulation pattern over northwestern Mexico will generate showers in Sonora; very heavy rainfall in Zacatecas, and heavy rainfall in Chihuahua and Durango.

Meanwhile, Tropical Wave 5 will move over the Yucatán Peninsula, generating heavy rainfall in Campeche and very heavy rainfall in Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

This system will also be associated with a low-pressure area with a potential for cyclonic development, which formed off the southern coast of El Salvador this morning.

Strong winds with gusts of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour are expected in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas; and possible dust storms in Sonora.

All of the aforementioned rainfall could be accompanied by lightning and hail; they could also cause rising river and stream levels, landslides, flooding, puddles, and reduced visibility.

A new cyclone threatens the Pacific

Rainy weather will continue throughout much of the country on Monday, due to low-pressure channels over the Northern Mesa, the center, northeast, east, and southeast of Mexico, interacting with atmospheric instability, the influx of moisture from both oceans, and the proximity of the monsoon trough, coupled with the passage of tropical wave number 5, which will continue to be associated with a low-pressure area with the likelihood of cyclonic development south of Guatemala.

These systems are forecast to bring showers and heavy to very heavy rains to the aforementioned regions, as well as the Yucatan Peninsula, the west and south of the country, with occasional heavy rains in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Veracruz.

A monsoon-type circulation pattern will prevail over northwestern Mexico, maintaining the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rains accompanied by lightning and possible hail in that region, with occasional heavy rains expected in Chihuahua and Durango.

Meanwhile, the hot to very hot weather will continue over northwestern and northern Mexico, as well as the Yucatan Peninsula, with temperatures above 40°C in Baja California (northeast), Sonora, and Sinaloa (north).

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies will occur during the day. Cool weather, fog banks, and isolated showers will occur in the region in the morning. During the afternoon, mild weather is expected with a chance of showers and occasional heavy rain in Mexico City and heavy rain with occasional very heavy rain in the State of Mexico.

The aforementioned rains could be accompanied by lightning, reduce visibility on stretches of roads, and cause flooding, mudslides, and rising river and stream levels. Strong wind gusts in storm areas could also cause trees and billboards to fall.

The minimum temperature for Mexico City will be 13 to 15°C (55 to 59°F) and the maximum temperature will be 18 to 20°C (64 to 68°F). For Toluca, State of Mexico, a minimum temperature of 10 to 12°C (50 to 53°F) and a maximum of 16 to 18°C (60 to 64°F) is forecast. Winds from the east and northeast will be 10 to 20 km/h (6 to 12 mph) with gusts of up to 40 km/h (25 mph) in storm areas, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

72- to 96-hour forecast summary (Tuesday, June 24th to Thursday, June 26th)

During the Conagua forecast period, rainy weather will continue over much of the country due to the persistence of low-pressure channels in the Northern Mesa, central, northeastern, eastern, and southeastern Mexico, interacting with divergence and the entry of moisture, coupled with a low-pressure area with a high probability of cyclonic or possible tropical cyclone development, which will move parallel to the Mexican South Pacific coast.

Showers and heavy to very heavy rain are forecast for the aforementioned regions, as well as the Yucatán Peninsula, the western and southern parts of the country, with localized heavy rains in San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Nayarit, Jalisco, Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas.

Tropical Wave 5 is expected to be absorbed by the low-pressure circulation on Tuesday, with a high probability of cyclonic development.

The monsoon-type circulation pattern over northwestern Mexico will cause heavy to very heavy rains, accompanied by lightning and possible hail, in that region. Heavy rains are forecast in Chihuahua on Tuesday.
