The Baja California Sur Security Roundtable reported that eight people were killed this Sunday in various armed attacks in the municipalities of La Paz, Comondú, and Loreto.
One of the incidents occurred in the Tabachines neighborhood of La Paz, where an investigative agent from the Baja California Attorney General’s Office died, as did an alleged assailant.
According to the official report, unknown individuals attacked investigative officers with firearms, and they repelled the attack.
After this, another attack was reported in which three alleged criminals, members of an organized crime group, were killed; a prosecutor was also injured.
According to a statement, authorities also recorded the murder of one person in the town of Ciudad Insurgentes, in the municipality of Comondú, but did not provide further details.
In the municipality of Loreto, there was also a report of an armed attack in which a man died, and although a woman was also injured, she later died while receiving medical attention.
In response to these acts of violence, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío stated on social media that he had strengthened security in the municipalities.
“We will enforce the law firmly, because our commitment is to protect citizens and not allow crime to take away the peace we have built together,” he said, lamenting the death of the state agent, as well as that of a woman in Loreto.
