In recent days, the rains have not let up on much of the country. Several states were affected by the amount of water left by the storms and the lack of drainage infrastructure to prevent flooding.
However, the rainy season is just months away, and more tropical systems will bring more rain.
According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), heavy rains are forecast for the weekend, some of them caused by a low-pressure area in the south of the country that could strengthen to Hurricane Flossie.
Which states will experience heavy rains this weekend, according to the SMN?
For this Friday, Saturday the 28th, and Sunday the 29th, plans are expected to be “soaked” by the possibility of heavy rains across much of the country.
According to the SMN’s 72-hour weather forecast, there will be scattered rains in Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas on Friday the 27th, mainly due to Tropical Wave 6, the low-pressure zone, and the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea.
In addition, very heavy rains will occur in Puebla, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
The rest of the country, including the northern, eastern, and central regions, are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rains, accompanied by lightning strikes caused by cyclonic circulation in the upper atmosphere.
For Saturday the 28th, weather conditions will persist, and it is advisable to remain alert for the possible formation of Cyclone Flossie.
Very heavy rains: Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas
Heavy rains: Guerrero, Morelos, State of Mexico, Puebla, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
Showers with occasional heavy rain: Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Michoacán, and Mexico City.

Where is Cyclone Flossie?

As of 12:00 p.m. this Friday, the probability of cyclone development is 60 percent for the next 48 hours and 90 percent for the next 7 days.
It is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone over the weekend, off the coast of Oaxaca, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
