Four clandestine graves have been found in La Paz, Baja California Sur; the site is now under the protection of authorities.

During the search for missing persons in Baja California Sur this Sunday, four clandestine graves containing human remains and clothing were located in the municipality of La Paz.

According to the report, family members who are members of the Search for La Paz Collective reported that an operation was carried out after determining the search area and began the search. Around 8:30 a.m., they located a bone and a piece of clothing.

Once this first find was located, they continued with the search efforts and identified other remains (calcaneus and phalanges), as well as another item of clothing.

In a third grave, they located a boot and pants, and finally, in a fourth grave, they also found a tennis shoe and a sock.

The Collective stated that the site is being processed by forensic services and that most of the work will be completed tomorrow.

The site remains under guard, and military and National Guard personnel were involved in securing the area.

He added that, after processing, they will provide information to the families of missing persons about the items found for possible identification.

According to the State Commission for the Search for Persons in Baja California Sur, the discovery of clandestine graves has been more frequent since last year in La Paz, in two locations: El Cajoncito and San Juan de la Costa, where work continues. Likewise, search efforts have expanded to the municipality of Los Cabos and the northern area, in Mulegé.

So far this year, according to records from the Search for Peace Collective, nearly fifty remains have been found in various clandestine graves in the state.
