Five people have died due to rain in Oaxaca.

The bodies of three people were located by rescuers from the State Coordination of Civil Protection and Risk Management after several hours of searching after they were swept away by a river in the municipality of San Pedro Ixcatlán, in the Papaloapan Basin, Oaxaca.

According to the municipal authority’s report, on Sunday, June 29, the men were swept away by the current of a stream while attempting to cross it on a motorcycle, when the water level was above normal.

The men, originally from that municipality, were identified as: Alejandro R. P., 37, from the Cerro Quemado community; Federico H. J., 47, from the town of La Laguna; and Fernando V. A., 38, from the Cerro Progreso community.

The agency reported that the number of deaths due to the effects of the rains recorded in June has risen to five.

He was preceded by the deaths of Juan Carlos L.S., 35, and Miguel Ángel V.C., 57. The former drowned in the Lagunas de Chacahua area of ​​the municipality of Villa de Tututepec de Melchor Ocampo; the latter died in the community of Los Ciruelos, municipality of San Pedro Pochutla, after receiving an electric shock.
