Investigations into the discovery of a dead person in Baja California resulted in the arrest of four people identified by authorities as possible members of the criminal group known as Los Rusos.

The arrests were announced by María Elena Andrade Ramírez, head of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), who spoke about the case at a press conference on June 30.

“The attackers were located, and all four are currently in pretrial detention. This group was also involved in committing crimes in other municipalities […] They belong to the Los Rusos group, according to the evidence obtained,” the official stated.

There is a leader among those arrested; “a major blow,” authorities say.

Among those now detained is an individual identified as the possible leader of the group: Víctor “N,” a man nicknamed El Carnal, who was arrested along with Jorge Alexis “N,” Armando “N,” and Carlos Rubén “N.”

The prosecutor emphasized that this is “a significant blow against crime.” Likewise, Andrade Ramírez indicated that those now detained were possibly involved in migrant trafficking and could be linked to other homicides.

Through a review of surveillance cameras, a gray car was identified as being involved in the events that occurred on May 11th when the victim left his home and got into his car. A day later, he was found dead with injuries to his face and body.

The victim was intercepted by a group of individuals who used the vehicle to put him in the trunk and take him to the Hotel Paraíso.

The four individuals arrested are originally from Mexicali, and when the investigation began, they moved to Ensenada, where they had lived for approximately a year and were monitored there.

This led them to return to Mexicali recently to commit the homicide at the Hotel Paraíso, as well as possibly other criminal activities.
