Get ready to experience the vibrant culture of Japan in Mexico City! A Japanese bazaar will be held on July 5 and 6, showcasing the country’s rich heritage through food, art, design, and more. The event is dedicated to the Tanabata festival, a celebration that commemorates the meeting between the stars Vega and Altair.
The bazaar will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Japanese Mexican Association, located at Fujiyama 144, Las Águilas, Álvaro Obregón. Admission is free, but attendees must register their attendance in advance.
One of the main attractions will be the Tanabata celebration, which honors the star festival by commemorating the love story between Hikoboshi (Altair) and Orihime (Vega). According to legend, these celestial bodies are separated by a river of stars and can only be seen once a year, just in the lunar month of July.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience Japanese culture through various activities, including:
* A Japanese wedding ceremony
* Traditional oriental gastronomy featuring classic dishes from Japan
* A bazaar offering a wide range of Japanese products for sale, including groceries, cosmetics, art, and design
One of the most unique aspects of the event will be the Tanzaku, a bamboo assembly with hanging papers where visitors can write their wishes. This beautiful commemoration is inspired by the Chinese legend known as The Princess and the Shepherd.
