On the occasion of the 18th BBVA Mexico City Half Marathon 2025, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) announced the implementation of extensive road safety, security, and surveillance measures to protect runners and attendees at the sporting event, which will take place this Sunday, July 13, on the streets of the Cuauhtémoc borough.
The operation will involve 290 police officers from the Undersecretariat of Traffic Control, supported by 36 patrol cars and 19 motorcycles. They will be responsible for blocking traffic and ensuring order in the areas where the race will take place.
The race will start at 5:55 a.m. from the Bicentennial Fountain, located in front of the Caballito Tower, in the Tabacalera neighborhood, and will finish at the Angel of Independence, in the Juárez neighborhood.
The route will include sections of Paseo de la Reforma, the Ahuehuete Roundabout, Monte Athos, Chivatito Causeway, and various trails in the First Section of Chapultepec Park.
Given the expected road disruptions, the SSC recommended the following alternatives for motorists:
To the north: Lázaro Cárdenas Central Axis and Inner Ring Road
To the south: Lázaro Cárdenas Central Axis and Inner Ring Road
To the west: Chapultepec, Constituyentes, Presidente Masaryk, and Arcos de Belén Avenues
To the east: Chapultepec, Constituyentes, Presidente Masaryk, Río de la Loza Avenues, and Inner Ring Road
The capital’s department urged citizens to plan their trips in advance and stay informed through official SSC accounts on social media such as X, Facebook, and TikTok, as well as through the Traffic Guidance Center and the Secretary’s Contact Unit (UCS), where real-time updates, road information, and assistance requests will be provided.
